Anyone else bummed by Canada day?

My family owns land on a remote island serviced by ferry. The ferry service was cancelled because of repairs ;so we had to get supplies by mail. Then the postal strike happened. Now we have a boil water advisory(flooding messed up the water) but the government flew in fireworks for Canada Day. Infrastructure? Why spend on that?
